Welcome and thank you for visiting the Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs website. We hope to provide easy access to the information beneficial to Louisiana’s disability community and the agencies that serve them. My staff and I are eager to work with you on any issue you may have. We welcome your comments and ideas for making positive changes.  

Housed in the Governor’s Office, the Office of Disability Affairs is defined by R.S. 46:2582, which created an office whose duties are designed to adequately address and resolve disability issues.  We are strongly committed to this objective and are truly honored to serve the people of Louisiana.

 


 Mission Statement

The mission of the Governor's Office of Disability Affairs is to facilitate access to the opportunities needed for persons with disabilities (in the State of Louisiana) to live as fully engaged participants in society.

  • The Department of Labor (DOL) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) have jointly established a new position, the Disability Program Navigator, within DOL's One-Stop Career Centers.The Disability Program Navigator Inititative will help people with disabilties "navigate" through the challenges of seeking work. Navigators will operate in a Career Solutions Center as a resource for people with disabilites.

In an effort to increase public awareness and acknowledge the efforts of those that have advanced the quality of life for Louisiana's disability community, the Governor's Office of Disability Affairs annually host Governor's Outstanding Leadership in Disabilites Awards. Click here.

Awards are presented to individuals, organizations, agencies and employers whose contributions have advanced the opportunities of individuals with disabilities or for those who have been selfless in serving the disability community in Louisiana.
